Questions & Answers

Q
Do I need a doctors referral?
A
Yes, you may either contact you doctor or we can do it for you. Sometimes doctors will prefer to see you first.

Q
Can I choose where I want to go for my rehabilitation services?
A
Yes, your doctor may provide you with a list of physical therapists in this area or your insurance company may guide you to the "in network" providers that are included in your insurance plan, but please remember, the final decision is up to you.

Q
Is there anything I can do if Advance Physical Therapy is not in my insurance network?
A
We currently accept nine insurance plans, however, if we are not in your network, we would be happy to contact your insurance company for you to see whether your plan has out-of-network benefits that will allow you to receive care at our facility.

Q
What do i need to bring on my first visit?
A

On the first visit new patients are asked to come 15 minutes early to complete paperwork and then afterwards a thorough initial evaluation will be preformed that usually takes about one hour. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes.

Please also bring the following items:

  • your insurance card(s)
  • any paperwork that you have received from the doctor (referrals, x-ray results, etc.)
  • Your calendar, so you can make appointments right away if more physical therapy is necessary

Q
How does aquatic therapy help?
A
The buoyancy and hydrostatic pressure properties in water combine to impact range of motion, strength, balance and levels of function. Patients will exercise specific muscles and joints and can be challenged beyond the limits of stability in the water without the fear or consequences of falling, which are often present with land-based exercises. This will build an ideal rehabilitation program; especially for post-op patients, neurological, stroke, lymphedema or those patients with back problems.

Q
What treatment techniques do you offer?
A
We utilize a wide variety of evidence-based procedures to restore function to the body and reduce pain, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, ice and heat therapy, therapeutic home exercises, and manual therapy. Karren can also create custom orthotics for patients with foot/ankle problems.
